BANKNOTES REACH HIGH PRICES AT NORWICH AUCTION

James and Sons, the Fakenham auctioneers, had a very successful auction at the Maids Head Hotel. A particular feature was the high prices fetched by banknotes. Some sample highlights were lot 54, a Cypriot 250 Mils note estimated at £250-300 going for £420, a Guatemalan 5 Peso note estimated at £10-20 going for £50, two ten Rupee notes expected to make a maximum of £35 between them actually raising £90 in total and a Mexican 20 Peso note estimated at £20-30 fetching £60.

These banknotes were all from Part I of The ‘WISBECH’ Collection of banknotes. Part II will be going under the hammer on the April 29th at the Prince of Wales Suite, Fakenham Racecourse, while part III will feature at the Maids Head Hotel, Norwich on May 27thBanknotes Reach High Prices at Norwich Auction.
