Historical Document Auctioned By James&SonsIn this auction we will be offering 682 lots of collectables:  Stamps and Postal History;  Medals and Mililtaria;  Coins and Tokens;  Antiquities;  Autographs;  Cigarette and Trade Cards;  and Postcards.

Of particular interest to postal historians are six further letters from the Pengelly Collection, some of the earliest recorded with Bishop marks dating from 1661 to 1675

There are several single scarce rare and valuable items including a 1878 £1 brown lilac stamp and a 1958 3d graphite misplaced mint stamp.  In addition to stamp collections and accumulations there is also a range of scarce first-day covers.

George Medal, WWII ARPOutstanding among the Medals on offer is a George Medal, WWII ARP,  Waterloo Medal awarded to a wounded officer – Lieutenant Samuel Wyndowe of the Royal Regiment of Dragoons.

A Parachute Regiment Gulf War and Afghanistan Special Forces Group of Six to a member of the Red Devils Free Fall Team.

A good selection of Swords, Bayonets and Instruments is on offer together with a Gold Sweetheart Brooch, Royal Flying Corps WWI, Badges, Insignia, Buttons, etc.

Numismatists will be interested in two gold coins:  a 1722 George I Forth Heads guinea and a 1797 George III Spade Guinea, in addition to a wide selection of hammered coins, antiquities and ancient coinage.
