A report of the regiment during the war detailing heavy casualties, honours and rewards gained. Of the regiments 12,847 enlisted, 5,961 were casualties, three Victoria Crosses were gained. 110 Captain William Maxwell Tracy, 2nd Queens - An archive of family correspondence many 1860’s and 1890’s with letters from east and upper Burma with accounts of military operations and mounted infantry under his command and the actions of the column leader colonel Holt’s expedition from Myingyan to Angyihon, Ledagyi against the dacoits, other letters from India with 5th and 14th Lancers and later in Ireland main letters, some with envelopes, are cross written (28). A quantity of family letters, many cross written, several with mourning edge, (q100 approx) together with notes of the research into the family ‘tree’. A quantity of photographs, including portraits, cemetery, etc (50) completes this archive which will prove very rewarding given careful examination. £250 – £350

261 Great Britain Norfolk – 1661 EL  Rare early letter Yarmouth to Norwich with m/s ‘Bishop Mark 2/12′.  Ex Pengelly correspondence. £80 – £120
262 Great Britain Norfolk – 1661 EL  General Post to Norwich.  The rates for unfranked mail was set in 1654 under an Ordinance of the Commonwealth Parliament at 2 pence for single letters sent under 80 miles and 3 pence elsewhere in England and Wales.  These rates were confirmed on the restoration of King Charles II in 1660.  During King Charles II’s reign Norwich was served by a by bag off the North Road at Royston, this passed through Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury, Thetford (which in its turn served Wisbech and Lynn), Larlingford (with a branch to Wells), Attleborough, Wymondham and Norwich and on to Aylsham and Walsham.  1661 (6 July) Westwood (probably either near Exeter or Coventry to Norwich, charged 2 pence.  This letter should have been charged at 3 pence, however it was charged 2 pence, possibly having been delivered by Jason Grover, an important carrier who was postmaster for the Ipswich Road.  No bishopmark as it was not applied on country mail until 1663 and this also applied to mail transiting London. £50 – £60
